100 cm insulation board for insulating and reinforcing walls

In addition to our complete insulation set, we now also offer special acoustic insulation boards for sale separately. The bars are 100 cm long, 6 cm wide and 6 cm high. The bars have a special structure and ensure that no sound bridges are created during wall insulation. Sound bridges would otherwise transmit noise directly to the walls and thus weaken the insulation.

How do I install the bars or how do I insulate my wall/ceiling?

The bars are fixed to the existing wall that is to be insulated. For insulation, you place our 50 mm thick partition wall tape between the bar and the wall as a lower separating layer to the wall/ceiling (you can also order this  from us here). The bars can be easily adjusted to fit your walls using a saw. Between the bars, you can, for example, lay our 4 cm composite foam or our 5 cm flat Micropor foam. You can easily adjust the foams, e.g. using an electric knife.

You can then place plasterboard from the hardware store on top of the rails, for example. These can then be painted, covered with wallpaper, etc. and you will have an effective partition wall insulation and at the same time a functional wall to which you can attach cupboards, etc.

Expected improvement of dB values with our facing shell

Depending on which wall is to be insulated, the following (excellent) insulation values can be achieved. The lighter the existing wall, the greater the improvement, and the values apply to double planking with plasterboard.

  • Ytong wall 100mm: improvement from 36dB to 60dB (+ 24dB)
  • Sand-lime brick wall 100mm: improvement from 45dB to 64dB (+ 19dB)
  • Sand-lime brick wall 215mm: improvement from 55dB to 73dB (+ 18dB)

Example: Sound level of the noise source in the transmitter room 100dB, at 100mm Ytong wall 100-36=64 dB, with improvement of the facing shell only 100-60=40 dB

The set for each 5.4m² wall surface contains

  • 8 pcs. acoustic bar 1000mm x 60mm x 65mm
  • 4 pcs. acoustic bar 750mm x 60mm x 65mm
  • 9 pcs. sound insulation panels 1000 x 500 x 50mm made of PU absorber foam
  • 9 pcs. sound insulation strips 1000 x 30mm x 50mm made of PU absorber foam
  • You can adjust the dimensions yourself with a jigsaw and scissors
  • Delivered in two boxes with the dimensions: 1040 x 600 x 550mm

The following is not included and must be purchased e.g. from a DIY store

  • Screws + dowels for screwing the acoustic bars to the wall
  • Plasterboard to cover the facing shell (single or double layer)
  • Possibly a vapour retarder foil if the facing layer is mounted on an outer wall
  • 50mm thick partition tape as lower separating layer to the floor (you can also order this from us here )

This is how assembly is carried out

Step 1

The acoustic bars (these are hollow wood laths with integrated insulation and special screw holes for easy installation) are screwed to the existing wall.Place our 50mm partition tape on the floor beforehand. This tape separates the acoustic bars from the floor and provides additional sound insulation.

Pay attention to the distance between the individual 6cm-wide acoustic bars. The plasterboards that are screwed on as the last layer have standard widths of 1200mm or 1250mm in the DIY store. Therefore, the acoustic bars must be screwed to the wall in an axial dimension of 600mm or 625mm respectively, so that the plasterboard can then be precisely screwed onto them.

Step 2

The sound-absorbing mats are clamped between the laths. We supply two different sizes of sound insulation mats (one 500mm wide and one 50mm wide) so that you can completely line the space between the bars.

wall isolation

You should line the complete surface between the acoustic bars with the sound insulation mats, so that there are no gaps through which the sound can penetrate. You can cut the height of the acoustic bars and the foam panels yourself (the acoustic bars using a saw or jigsaw, and the foam using large scissors). This allows you to optimally adapt the set to your room height.

Step 3

Screw the plasterboard onto the acoustic bars. These panels are available from DIY stores. You can use a jigsaw to cut the panels to the height of your room.

 wall isolation
Then you can paint the wall accordingly, paper it... the perfect sound insulation for your wall is ready.
