Manufacturing and Production Machines

To insulate machines, you can either line the room in which the machines are located with acoustic foams (in this case, see our section: Insulating Industrial Buildings and Production Facilities), or you can line the machine directly or enclose it. If spray water or oily substances are present, you require water-repellent sheets. Otherwise, you can also use other foam planes. We have both on offer.

Insulating directly inside the machine

You mount the foam sheets directly on the inner casing of the machine. The appropriate thickness is between 3 and 7cm, depending on the frequency of the machine – thin foams are sufficient for high frequencies – the lower the frequency (for example, humming), the thicker you should choose the foam. It is important that you mount the foams inside the machine, thus facing the source of the noise. Our flame-resistant rebond foams  are ideally suited or, if you may use only flame-retardant materials, our Basotect absorber. In addition, you can absorb the sound of the metal casing using our bitumen board or heavy foil as a base layer. The foam is then simply adhered to the bitumen.

Enclosing machine

If you have no space in the machine, you must enclose it. In this case, you more or less build a new casing from wood, plastic or metal and then line the inside of this casing again with the aforementioned foams. In addition, you can absorb the sound of the metal casing using our bitumen board or heavy foil as a base layer. The foam is then simply adhered to the bitumen.

Lining facility

If the above variants are ruled out, you can also naturally line sheets directly in the facility or in the room in which the machine is located. Ideally in the immediate vicinity. Our Basotect absorber or Basotect decor foams, which significantly reduce resonance, are ideally suited here. It is best that you read our guide “Lining Warehouses and Production Facilities” in this case.

We recommend that you use at least fire-resistant foams for safety reasons.
